How can I do this?

Note:

Computer consist with the recovery manager software and the Vista serial number.

(This is not regarding Keyboard Layout)

thank you.Change the language in vista?
You can change the language Windows uses to display text in wizards, dialog boxes, menus, and other items in the user interface. Some display languages are installed by default; others require you to install additional language files.

Before you can install a display language, you need access to the language files. These files can be on your computer, on a computer on your network, or on your Windows DVD; or they can be downloaded from the web.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Ron

For Windows, go check the Regional and Language Options in the control panel.

On a Mac, go check the settings in %26quot;International%26quot; in the System Preferences.

  • How can I type in a different language on Windows Vista?

    Yes, I had gone through the procedure.

    I went to control panel, language and regional options, keybords, and other input methods

    I clicked on %26quot;Change keyboards%26quot;

    I clicked on %26quot;Add%26quot;

    I double clicked on Czech.

    I double clicked on %26quot;keyboard%26quot;.

    I checked %26quot;Czech%26quot;

    I clicked %26quot;OK%26quot;

    I clicked %26quot;OK%26quot; in the other window.

    For several weeks, all was fine. There was a language tool bar on my task bar, or I could switch between languages using left Alt + Shift.

    But when I logged on today, the keyboard short cut did not work. There was no EN icon on my task bar. I helplessly opened the control panel. In the regional and language options I clicked on %26quot;Change keyboards%26quot;. Dumbfounded, I stared at the screen. There were still two keyboards, nothing seemed wrong. But my keyboard short cut still doesn't work, and there is no language tool bar on my task bar.

    I have been altering some settings and options yesterday, so it is possible that I somehow disabled something.

    What's wrong, and how do I fix it?How can I type in a different language on Windows Vista?
    not sure what the problem is.... just a guess...

    try to right-mouse-click on the main toolbar (bottom of your screen) and under Toolbars, check if the 'Language bar' is selected...or appears as an option...

    unchecking the 'Language bar' shouldn't make a difference in terms of availability... I can still switch my keyboards even though the bar is not checked... but if the 'language bar' doesn't show up under the 'toolbar' menu you may want to remove the Czech keyword, restart your computer, add the Czech keyboard again and see if it works...

  • How can I change vista home basic operation system lang. from English to Chinese?

    I had a Dell laptop with vista home basic.

    I did go to control panel/regeional and language options to change the display language.

    I had on problem in typing Chinese, I can view Chinses files that are originally in Chinses, but I could never change to whole operation system language to Chinese.

    Is there any way that I can view the start up, the task bar, the control panel and so on in Chinses?

    In control panel/regeional and language options/keyboards and languages, I can only change %26quot;keyboards and input languages%26quot;, there is nothing in the other option except a help link %26quot;how can I install additional languages?%26quot;

    I have read the help links, it said I have to download a Language Interface Pack (LIP) to install which I could never find on Microsoft's website.

    Then, by random googling, I find a Chinses language pack, which seems to be a Multilingual User Interface Pack (MUI).

    When I double click the language pack file, it pops out a file named %26quot;lp%26quot; which disappers in 5 sec, then nothing happens.

    I assumed the language file I downloaded to be MUI because microsoft says that MUI only works for Vista Ultimate and Vista Enterprise, and the language pack I downloaded doesn't work.

    Could somebody please help me?

    (I want to give this laptop to my parents who can not read any English at all)How can I change vista home basic operation system lang. from English to Chinese?

    Now, let's change your system locale.

    %26quot;1. Open Regional and Language Options by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Clock, Language, and Region, and then clicking Regional and Language Options.

    2. Click the Administrative tab, and then, under Language for non-Unicode programs (System Locale), click Change system locale. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    If you have the German version of XP on your laptop, you're stuck with German. You will need to format it and install an English version of XP.How can I change Windows XP Home main language?
    Well, this is another example of how Windows sucks. I personally emailed Microsoft a similar question (only I wanted to do the reverse of what you are asking), and they said that the OS's kernel is written to be in that language. Basically, there's no way to change the system's display language. You can change the input language, for example, change your keyboard layout from a USA keyboard to a German one and vice versa. You can also program MS Office and whatever other Office programs you may have to accept German as the default language for the document. However, based on what Microsoft's Technical Support people told me, the only way to change the system's main language is to buy a new OS. In your case, it would mean dishing out another $100 (or euro, whatever you use) just to get your OS to display in English.How can I change Windows XP Home main language?

Without buying one of those stickers for keyboards is it possible to make the azbuka/latin characters correspond to type in Russian?How do you type in Russian characters?
    You can use this program: http://www.israelinfo.ru/dictionary/rukl

    Here you can see how do Russian letters lay on the keyboard, tape it in the field, copy and paste in your text. Unfortunately, it's in Russian, but it wouldn't take too much time to figure out how does it work.

    You can also use this program, it's in English: http://www.yandex.ru/keyboard_qwerty.htm

    In both programs you can type on your keyboard and see the text appearing on the screen or you can use the virtual keyboard proposed.

    I strongly advice you to try one of these programs because it might help you to learn to type blind.

    Hi,

    It's relatively easy to do, but what you do exactly depends on what Windows OS you are using. See below for how:

    Windows Vista [Any version]

    1. Click Start | Control Panel

    2. In Control Panel, if you are in Classic View, click on Control Panel Home (top left corner)

    3. Open Clock, Language, and Region

    4. Click on Regional and Language Options.

    5. Click the Keyboards and Languages tab and then click Change keyboards.

    6. Under Installed services, click Add.

    7. In the Add Input Language dialog box, select the keyboard layout you would like to add from the list available and click OK.

    8. The keyboard layout you added will be included in the list. To set the new layout as your default, select it from the list. Click OK to save your changes.

    You can switch between different input languages (= keyboard languages) by clicking on the Language Bar button or by pressing the Alt + Shift keys

    Windows XP [any version]:

    1. Click Start | Control Panel

    2. In Control Panel, if you are in Category View, click on Switch to Classic View (top left corner)

    3. Open Regional and Language Options.

    4. Click on the Languages tab.

    5. Under Text services and input languages, click on the Details button.

    6. Under Installed services, click Add.

    7. In the Add Input Language dialog box, choose the input language and keyboard layout or Input Method Editor (IME) you want to add.

    7. Click OK twice. You should now see a language indicator in the System Tray (located at bottom right hand corner of the desktop by default). You can switch between different input languages (= keyboard languages) by pressing the Alt + Shift keys

    NOTE for either Vista or Windows XP:

    --------------------------------------…

    If a language does not appear in the Input language list, the fonts for that language might not be installed. If that is the case, follow the instructions below.

    To Add language support do the following:

    1. Click Start | Control Panel

    2. In Control Panel, if you are in Category View, click on Switch to Classic View

    3. Open Regional and Language Options in Control Panel.

    4. Click on the Languages tab.

    5. Under Supplemental language support, select the check box beside the applicable language collection.

    6. Click OK or Apply. You will prompted to insert the Windows CD-ROM or point to a network location where the files are located. After the files are installed, you must restart your computer.

    pardon my sense of humor,but I think its Bill Gates way of saying %26quot; I am on top of the world !%26quot;

    ....How do I change the language from English US to English UK in Microsoft Word?
    MS Word is supposed to be easy to customize, but as we've all found, reverts in an instant according to some deep logic of its own.

    Try opening a document, then picking the Format drop-down menu from the menu bar.

    Select Style.

    Click the button that says Modify.

    In the bottom left corner of the box that opens is a menu button. Click it and choose Language.

    That should give you a list of languages including English (UK). Select that, click the box marked %26quot;Add to template%26quot;, and if it will let you, click the button labelled Default.

    Keep saying Yes to any questions until you've redefined the language in your Normal template. Then you should be ok for any document styles you're using that are based on Normal style. (If you don't know what style you're using, all the better: it's almost certainly Normal.)

    After that, if you've got a document open and you find it's reverted to English (US), try selecting all the text in the document, picking the Tools drop-down menu from the menu bar and selecting Language. That will give you the same menu of languages, and you can make the same choice: English (UK) and Default. Which ought to preserve that document at least.

    Don't be surprised if you find yourself going through all this more than once...How do I change the language from English US to English UK in Microsoft Word?
    That drives me nuts, too. I'm in Canada (we use UK English and not US English) and it keeps telling me all these words are spelled wrong. It took me about 5 times changing the language to get it to actually stick. I believe the software is written like that on purpose (or there's a bug in it) but just keep trying to switch it. The first poster explained how to do that so I won't re-type it, but good luck. I know how annoying it is.

    Yahoo Messenger 9 crashes during the change of the keyboard layout?

    I usually write in a language other than English. So when I change try to change the keyboard layout during the conversation, the messenger freezes and crashes. It happens quite often.

    How do I fix it? Yahoo Messenger 9 crashes during the change of the keyboard layout?
    Your answer is simular to the answer that I gave this person just take out the parts that dont pertain to your question and fill in the blanks where they do apply to your question. Any program problems can be remedied by following these few simple steps.

    Go to your Start Menu and do a search for any Yahoo Messenger programs new or old and delete them completely out of your computer. Then use the Disk Clean up feature,you can find this by going to your Start Menu moving your cursor over to All Programs up to Accessories then to System Tools then to Disk Cleanup. Select all the boxes that apply and click OK it will prompt you Yes or No. Click Yes and wait for it to complete and it will go away.

    Then you need to Defragment your hard drive or drives if you have more than one. You can do this by following the same way that I told you to go to the Disk Clean up and Disk Defragmenter is right under Disk Cleanup. Click Disk Defragmenter when the menu comes up click on one of your Hard Drive locations then click Analyze when it completes click Defragment.

    This may take awhile depending how large your hard drive is and/or how long it has been since it has been defragmented. If you have alot of red lines among the blue and green lines then you are in desperate need of defragmenting. These two features if performed reguraly at least once a week depending on how much you use your computer,will move your files around to ultimately speed up your computer.

    This seems alot to go through to get to where you need to be but trust me it will work. The same thing happened to me when I updated from 8.0 to 9.0 and this was the only solution for me. All this said and done. Do another Search for Yahoo Messenger on your hard drive to make sure that all remainders of Yahoo Messenger are deleted. Once that is done Reboot your computer then go to Yahoo search and download Yahoo Messenger 9.0 and you shouldn't have any more problems.

    You can do this for any programs that you are having trouble with. This worked for me so it should correct your problem too. It seems like alot but it wont take very long to complete the task. Always remember to reboot after you make alot of changes to reset your computer. If you need any more advice hit me up!

    Here's what you should do - don't go to any websites you don't want him to have the passwords to. Alternately, don't put any content on your sites, or in your email, that he would object to.

    I don't think it's very cool of him to spy on you like this, but technically this IS his computer; he paid for it, I am sure. So there's not really anything you can do about it. Don't try switching your keyboard layout to something else, because if the program is smart, it will be grabbing keystrokes not from the raw keyboard data, but from when Windows interprets them, so if you change the layout in windows, it will still be able to interpret them. And once you've changed your layout to Dvorak, it's a b*tch to figure out where the keys are.

  • How do i change the language of my password?

    Hello,

    I got a computer from the store that had been preinstalled with Windows XP Pro, it would automatically log on.

    The default language was Arabic, and i changed it to English. Everything was working fine until I added a password to my account. After restarting, I can't log in to the computer because my password was in english and the default language at login is Arabic. I'm incredibly frustrated with it, hope someone can suggest a quick fix. Is there some keyboard shortcut to cycle through languages BEFORE logging on to windows?How do i change the language of my password?

    How do I change keyboard options?

    I find myself writing more and more often in a different language, but I haven't any idea how to change the keyboard options so that, for example, Control+Shift+I gives me an I with an accent over it. Up until now I've used the Symbols feature of whatever program I am using and copy-pasted the accented letters into their proper places. But this is not a permanent solution, and I don't know how to find one. Can anyone help?How do I change keyboard options?

    I'm not sure what operating system you have so going about finding the properties for that might vary but I use Vista (actually Windows 7 but its very similar to Vista). All I did was hit my start menu and typed in language and it displayed everything involving language options. If you still can't find it you might have to do a Windows Update, then opt' to view optional updates and the language packs should be listed, if all else doesn't work re-installing your operating system (fairly easy, just need the disc, you can even get them off the web and burn to an .iso if you're that desperate). During the reinstall of the OS you'll be given an option to set the language of choice.

    Windows has supported for sometime different languages and different country keyboard layouts. So, you can install the German keyboard layout and the %26quot;Y%26quot; is now where the %26quot;Z%26quot; is on an American keyboard layout.

    This can be done from control panel and keyboard. After setting it up, the option in the task bar will be for the various languages installed.

    Also, there's small apps out there that you can point and click to insert a special character or letter. Also, this can be done by a combination of control or Alt + numbers combination, if you've set your computer up to support that.

    Then you can choose your IMEs. The language menu appears in the upper right hand corner of the screen. For Korean, there aren't that many different IMEs. For Spanish, however, there are keyboards for more or less every Spanish-speaking country in the world, so you'll have to choose the one you prefer.

    You can also set a hotkey to switch IMEs so you don't have to click on the language menu every time you want to do so. If you're used to Windows, you may want to set it to left ALT + SHIFT since that's probably what you're used to.

    on

    Click Run intl.cpl

    Go languages%26gt;details%26gt;add and add spanish

    Then in word you can select language (from taskbar) and it will correct your spanish so manana went to ma帽ana, but it will keep keypad the same. Though if you wanted to write in greek or whatever you could do this in the same method and it would write greek.

In that little tab select the language that you want to use and that should get your settings back on tract... I hope this works.

    How do I change the language setting on word?

    Microsoft Word (the latest version) keeps switching the default language back to French; which changes the keyboard settings. I double click and reset back to default English US and it almost immediately goes back to French. I'm trying to get it to English. I've tried changing the dictionary language and the default language with no avail. I am typing in English too not French so it's not detecting the language in switching, it's just switching.

    Any ideas? ThanksHow do I change the language setting on word?
    There are two parts to this: Setting the language for the current document and setting the Default language for future documents based on the current template. Here's how to do both:

    Then, in Word versions prior to Word 2007:

    1. Press CTRL/A to select the entire document.

    2. Click the Tools-%26gt;Language-%26gt;Set Language menu item.

    3. Select the language you want in the list box.

    4. If you want to make this the default language for future documents, click the Default button.

    5. Click Yes in the message box.

    6. Click OK.

    In Word 2007:

    1. Press CTRL/A to select the entire document.

    2. Click the Review tab on the Ribbon.

    3. In the Proofing section, click Set Language.

    4. Continue as in Step 3, above.

    That should do it.How do I change the language setting on word?

    How do I change the language in Vista?

    I′m an American living in Costa Rica, and today I bought a new laptop. The problem is it came with Vista in Spanish. How can I change it to English? I tried the language bar settings, but that only changed the keyboard. I need to change the system language. Please Help!How do I change the language in Vista?
    The display language is the language that Windows uses in wizards, dialog boxes, menus, Help and Support topics, and other items in the user interface. Some display languages are installed by default, and others require you to install additional language files. English should be pre-installed.

    When you change the display language, it is changed for your user account and is not changed on the Welcome screen. If you want to set the display language for multiple users or the Welcome screen, you need to apply the settings to all users. I will discuss that at the end of this document.

    1. ---%26gt; Open Regional and Language Options by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking %26quot;Clock, Language, and Region%26quot; and english from the list, and then click OK.

    Note: If you don't see the list of display languages, you need to install additional language files first. If that is the case it requires more instruction, however it should not be a problem.

    When you change the display language to English, the text in menus and dialog boxes for some programs might not be in the language that you want. This happens because the program might not support Unicode. Again this is an item that can be addressed if need be. Most software and modern webs handle Unicode.

    To apply the settings to the desktop and default users, -? Open Regional and Language Options by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking “Clock, Language, and Region” and then clicking Regional and Language Options.

    2. Click the Administrative tab, and then click Copy to reserved accounts. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    3. Do one of the following:

    ? To copy the current settings to the default user account, select the Default user account (new users) check box. The default account is used as a template for creating new user accounts. This setting allows administrators to set the default format, keyboard layout, and display language for new users. Any user account created on the computer after the settings have been copied to the default user account has these settings applied to it. Existing user accounts are not affected.

    ? To copy the current settings to the system accounts, select the System accounts (local system, local service, and network service) check box. The system accounts are special accounts used by Windows services. This setting allows administrators to specify a display language and keyboard layout for the Welcome screen. It also sets the display language for users who have not specified a display.

    German spellcheckers: (free?!) with Mozilla/Netscape programs and Open Office.

    New spelling: Seamonkey German version 1.) or German Thunderbird mail. Download of spelling module it is normally sufficiant for any language version. So You can also add the German spelling module to the English version ;-) / Seamonkey de-AT has by default the de-AT, de-CH %26amp; de-DE spell checkers (it is maintained by R. Kaiser an Austrian ). Thunderbird has only de-DE module.

    BTW. If You have these tools; they can code html (insert html). Now You can also use English keybord: %26amp; szlig ; is the diatypical double s letter %26amp; uuml ; is the 眉 %26amp; Uuml ; is the capital 脺 ... The html codes are written without spaces - but this page does not let me. List e. g. at 2.). It contains all escape characters. I use html code when i have to use an English keyboard.

    OpenOffice is big to download. But ist is also free and a German spelling module is available.

    A very good free older German spelling: Netscape 4.78 composer and mail module. (German spelling had a reform recently).

    How can I change the language of my keyboard in Microsoft Word?

    Hi, I'm a student studying Ancient Greek and I was wondering whether or not anybody knew how to change the language setting on my keyboard while using Microsoft Word. Thanks a bunch!How can I change the language of my keyboard in Microsoft Word?
    Assuming there's a keyboard layout for Ancient Greek, you can add it as an alternative layout and indeed switch with a single keystroke (LeftALT/Shift).

    Here's how to add a keyboard layout in Windows XP:

    1. Click the Start-%26gt;Control Panel menu item.

    2. Click Date, Time, Language and Regional Options.

    3. Click Add Other Languages.

    4. Click the Details button.

    5. Click the Add button.

    6. Find the language you want and select it.

    7. Click OK.

    8. Click the Apply button.

    Here's how to add a keyboard layout in Windows Vista:

    1. Click the Start-%26gt;Control Panel item.

    2. Under Clock, Language and Region, click Change Keyboards or other Input methods.

    3. Click the Change Keyboard button.

    4. Click the Add button.

    5. Find the language you want and select it.

    6. Click the + sign to expand the item.

    7. Click the + sign next to Keyboard to expand it.

    8. Check the language you want.

    9. Click the OK button

    This will add that language it to the list of possible languages and possibly add the Language Bar to your Taskbar. You should be able to switch between the languages with the Language Bar or with the LeftALT/Shift key combination.

    Hope that helps.

    I only know how to work with Windows so I do not know much about Macintosh OS - never worked on one but it should be similar anyway.

    - Changing the keyboard does not have anything to do with the Internet settings. You have to change your computer settings.

    Go to “Start” and then %26quot;Control panel%26quot; or wherever your computer settings are located.

    %26gt;Clock, Language, and Region%26gt;Regional and Language Options%26gt;Keyboards and Languages Tab%26gt;Change Keyboards%26gt;Add%26gt;[Select Language - Greek]%26gt;

    %26gt;double click language(Greek)%26gt;keyboards%26gt;

    %26gt;Look/Choose one or more settings under %26quot;Keyboard%26quot; and %26quot;Other%26quot; (I don't know about Greek so not sure what you would need)

    You may choose all options if you want - these settings can be changed with the language bar and may be more convenient when changing from Greek to English or something while typing.

    - I think you will have to memorize the Greek keyboard, unless you want to get keyboard stickers.

    Select %26quot;General%26quot; Tab, %26gt; Language Bar Tab%26gt;

    %26gt;Choose Language bar settings. (Floating on Desktop or Docked in Taskbar is recommended until you get more familiar with how it works).

    %26gt;OK%26gt;Apply%26gt;OK%26gt;OK%26gt;

    Open a document and try typing/getting familiar with the language bar and key board.

    All you need to do is look for the language bar and switch from English to Greek whether in a document or online.

    It has been a while since I changed my language setting to Japanese so I can’t remember if there is anything else I think that once you try typing in a document, your computer may or may not notify you that it is needs permission to download the language software. I think it did that to me, but I don’t know if this would happen to you or not or whether you will be able to get the software downloaded to your computer automatically or as an update support program. (I have Windows Vista with Microsoft Office)

My !@$%% cousin always changes it to Chinese and I tried to change it to all kind of languages I know and it's not working, and every time I go to Control Panel, it ONLY CHANGES the Keyboard language, but I actually want the whole computer to be either English or French, and I don't know how to restart the system either, so either way will be fine, as long as the default language changes.How can I change the default Language of my computer?
