You don't need a special program to write in Russian (Cyrillic alphabet) on the PC. But you have to add/install the Russian alphabet and language on it. (in WinXP, from control panel, languages...).
Pay attention to the fact that Russian keyboard is not of a QWERTY or QWERTZ or even AZERTY type... it's totally different!
A simple way, just for answering in forums, emails and such (through your browser) is to install the FireFox browser and the %26quot;Russ Key%26quot; add-on (or some other similar %26gt; to translit, to Cyrillic). Or use this site:

Follow the instructions above for enabling the language bar in XP and typing in Cyrillic.
However, you'll need a special keyboard with the Russian letters marked or you'll just be guessing which key means what!
I have the language bar enabled Russian but I never use it.
Instead I use a virtual Russian keyboard at:

Very easy to use, just copy and paste into your document.
